Quick trip into the downstairs canyon

Subject to climbing a fence and getting round a difficult landslide, you can walk to Canyon du Canceigt from our door.

Becka saw busloads of small children getting changed into wetsuits down by the river, so we decided that maybe we were up to it.

It’s a very pretty canyon with overhanging cave-like walls and flowstone and light everywhere. At one point there is a mat of ivy dangling down in free space by about 20 metres almost to the floor.

At the top of the main waterfall, we saw this:

We had only just got past the previous children choke:

The grownups were extremely nice, and warned us of the depths of the pools ahead before we jumped, as the water was somewhat cloudy. There was also a second belay that allowed us to get past the traffic jam on the main waterfall.

Mind you, having so many spare people milling about in the place meant we could do the tourist thing and get one of them to take a cheesy photo of us with our camera.
